Rover 820si = T16 engine?

Postby Manolito_M on Fri Nov 04, 2011 4:30 pm

Heeii,,

I have a Rover 820si, but have some problems with my engine.
4 cylinders, 16 valves
2000cc
benzine injection

Is this engine a Rover M16 ?

Which engines can I use to replace?

M16 is pre facelift, t16 is post facelift I think. Mr webmaster will probably confirm...!
Sleipnir (aka PAE !) now has an engine - check! weldathon complete - check! 235000 miles + at least 15 years without the speedo connected!

Yes M16 to about 1991 in the Mk1, T16 from about 1992 in Mk2 (the one with the chrome grill)

Large parts of both engines are the same, but it's easiest to use the same model engine, plenty available in the UK

Explain the problems and I may be able to save you the trouble of replacement.
