Will this fuel pump fit my TC?

Postby cdnp6 on Sat Feb 25, 2012 8:32 pm

I have rebuilt the fuel pump on my 1970 series 1 Federal TC, but have been on the lookout for a new fuel pump for backup.
I came across this Ad on Ebay North America for a replacement fuel pump:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rover-2000-SC-2 ... 0832839843

The description states it will fit, but further down on ad states compatible for 64/65 SC...
Anyone seen, or use one of these for a TC?

Haven't tried one of those personally but afaik all 4 cylinder pumps were interchangeable so if they are right about it fitting a P6, then it should fit yours. It must be an aftermarket brand 'cos I think all the Rover ones had the glass top. Like this:

1968 2000 TC, Venetian red, black int, Wires

1973 3500 Auto, Turquoise, Sandalwood int, Rostyles

There were metal topped fuel pumps which were higher flow pumps, fitted to cars with HS8 cars, and fuel return line, back to the tank after flowing to the carbs.

There is a FP24 fuel pump which will work. However it has no internal gauze filter.

You can use an electric pump inline with a mechanical pump. There is a post on here, or it might be on Rovernet where someone did this with a switch for the electric pump on the dash. I pointed out that this is the same as on the Cherokee plane which I fly sometimes! This is where the inspiration came from. One quarter inch fuel line can be clamped over the hard plastlc line. You can cut the plastic line and connect in an electric universal pump.

I have bought from the ebay vendor before which you asked about, and their applications listings have always been good. I think that pump would work ok.

James.

The one I need is the higher pressure metal topped pump.
I'll contact the vendor after the weekend and ask a few questions.
Thanks for your input guys.
